Checking your Medium Stats

I kind of don’t want to even go there …

I first started out as a Medium reader, with the free subscription. I was instantly hooked and upgraded to the paid service so I could read to my heart’s content.

I never joined Medium with a view to writing. It didn’t even cross my mind (although I have previously started 2 blogs — one on health fads, one on sobriety).

But then one day I thought about all the crazy notions swirling around in my head that I had no outlet for. I don’t seem to have a lot of those gems of friends that you can have long, slow, meandering conversations with, where you unpick a problem (any old topic really) and try to set the world to rights. I have had a few people in my life that I have had that kind of bond with, but they have moved on for one reason or another (ex-boyfriend, an old school friend who moved overseas etc) and so I have missed that over the last few years.

Solution — why not write on Medium, mainly for the outlet. It saves creating my own blog and also gives me the opportunity to write about whatever strikes me on the day, without having to stick to the theme of a blog.

And so I leapt right in. And it wasn’t about making money (although, hey, I’m not going to say no).
